Another breakfast restaurant breaks open in Addison
Addison has a new breakfast restaurant with a new location of Another Broken Egg Cafe, the Louisiana-based chain that serves breakfast and lunch only. The restaurant opens January 23 at 4520 Frankford Rd. and the corner of Dallas North Tollway, in a strip mall that's also home to a Fuddrucker's and Angelo & Vito's pizzeria.
Another Broken Egg's menu has a Southern-inspired theme with dishes such as peach cobbler pancakes, bananas Foster Belgian waffles, black bean Benedict, huevos rancheros, and biscuits and gravy.
There are seven kinds of omelets, including one with egg whites only, and three egg "scramblers." There's a salmon power bowl — bowls are almost always powerful, are they not? — granola made in-house, and fruit with quinoa.
Lunch includes salads, burgers, and sandwiches, and there's a special menu for brunch. A full bar is open from 7 am to 2 pm, with bellinis, orange and cranberry mimosas, and specialty cocktails such as the spiked Nutella iced latte.
This will be the third location of Another Broken Egg Cafe in Dallas-Fort Worth, but the second for Double R Restaurant Group, which opened its first branch in the area in Southlake in 2016. There's a branch in Casa Linda, but it's owned by a different franchisee. There was one on Greenville Avenue, but that closed in 2013.
Double R president Stuart Ottinger says they have big plans for DFW. "Our most recent and first Texas location in Southlake was a huge hit this past year," he says in a release. There are plans for more Dallas-area cafes to open in 2017, including a new mixed-use development called Grandscape in The Colony.
Addison's best-known breakfast is the long-time Benedict's, but we're ground zero for breakfast restaurants lately, with chains such as Yolk, First Watch, and Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles.
